Coron is one of Palawan’s most popular beach and island destinations. Coron is the third-largest island in the Calamian Islands in northern Palawan in the Philippines. The island is part of the larger municipality of the same name. Because of its unique ecological features, the entire area is protected by several legal proclamations.
In June 1998, the indigenous Tagbanwa people were officially awarded the Certificate of Ancestral Domain Claim (CADC) No. 134 covering for over 22,000 hectares of land and sea.
